Follow-Up Programme for experienced PhD-supervisors

The Follow-Up Programme is designed for experienced PhD supervisors who lead or contribute to supervisory teams. It aims to strengthen participants’ capacity to assume a constructive leadership role in building effective supervisory teams in local, national, and international contexts. The programme focuses on team-based PhD supervision and collegial mentoring, combining research-informed insight with reflective, practice-based work. It adopts a process-oriented and collaborative approach, encouraging reflection on practice and peer observation. The workload is approximately 50 hours and comprises mandatory and optional sessions, digital learning resources, cross-faculty discussions, and a written assignment.

Admission requirements
To participate in the development programme, the following requirements must be met:
You must have completed the UNIPED-600 Development Program for PhD supervisors.
You must have UiT – The Arctic University of Norway as your main employer or supervise at least one PhD student at UiT.
You must have been the main supervisor of a completed PhD candidate.
You must supervise one or more PhD candidates (as main or co-supervisor) at the time the programme starts and throughout the programme period.
Requirements for Programme Completion
To be eligible for certification upon completion of the programme, participants must complete the following:
A physical start-up session
A colleague mentoring project, that includes a written reflection note (with peer feedback) and a final small-group presentation (digital).
Three short optional (usually digital) workshops
PROGRAMME MODEL

Work with digital content, as well as reading specialist literature.
Mandatory participating in one half-day gathering and one half-day digital small group workshop including a presentation.
Complete a colleague mentoring project.
Submit one short written assignment based on a project and provide feedback on a colleague’s assignment.
Attend three optional short digital workshops.
