Development programme for PhD supervisors
English variant | digitally. This programme is delivered online with two one-day sessions with additional digital activities and teamwork.
The development programme for PhD supervisors strengthens participants’ competence through practice-informed supervisory approaches, up-to-date theory and research on PhD supervision. It adopts a process-oriented, collegial approach with an emphasis on individual development needs, reflection on practice and mutual peer observation of PhD supervision. The programme includes compulsory and optional sessions, digital learning resources and development work in cross-faculty teams, as well as three assessed tasks. The workload is approximately 100 hours and meets UiT’s requirements for PhD supervisors.

Admission requirements
To participate in the development programme, the following requirements must be met:
You must have UiT – The Arctic University of Norway as your main employer or supervise at least one PhD student at UiT.
You must supervise one or more PhD candidates (as main or co-supervisor) at the time the programme starts and throughout the program period.
Requirements for Programme Completion
To be eligible for certification upon completion of the programme, participants must meet certain requirements:
Participation in two mandatory one-day gatherings and presentation at a shorter digital workshop.
Coursework requirements are carried out in a small team of supervisors. This includes mutual peer observation of PhD supervision within the team.
Participation in one “faculty-seminar” at your own faculty.
Two written work requirements must be submitted and approved.
