You Arrive
by Mark A. Krupa and Bonnie Harnden
This film is a remarkable achievement, offering a thoughtful exploration of a complex and challenging subject with clear learning outcomes. The writing is superb, capturing the subject’s full complexity—an impressive feat for a film of this length. The storytelling skillfully builds tension, pushing the edge of discomfort before resolving the narrative in a way that reinforces the film’s central messages. This approach not only fits the film’s overall message but also emphasizes its key points effectively. It’s no wonder this film is a definitive favorite among the jury.
BEST EDUCATIONAL CONCEPT WHERE FILM IS USED
Ocean Portrait: The Children by the North Sea
by Ferruccio Goia
This film exemplifies Collaborative Exploration, a signature pedagogy for early childhood teachers. The method showcased is abstract, eccentric, and artistic, immersing viewers in natural outdoor settings through sound and imagery. It presents an innovative approach to teaching children about art and sustainability, while also offering a thoughtful educational strategy for kindergarten teacher students. The film and its accompanying educational program communicate effectively, inspire, and engage the intended audience. This is an excellent example of an educational film dedicated to the «flipped classroom» pedagogical method.

JURY’S HONORABLE MENTION & AUDIENCE AWARD
Speaking through me
by Kristen Gilliland
The narrative’s delivery through the voice of «ME,» both in the overarching story and the animated explanatory parts of the film, creates a strong connection between the segments, amplifying their impact. As we engage with Anders’s story and the narratives of three other struggling young adults, the viewer becomes more receptive to the topics addressed in the film. It not only provides explanations for what is happening in the brain and the dangers of drugs but also offers techniques to avoid the need for drugs. As an educational film, it offers multiple perspectives and opportunities for a reflective learning process. It’s a favorite among several jury members.

BEST STUDENT FILM
Trans Hate on your phone
by Franziska Busche
This film addresses a serious and often overlooked topic using a familiar device: your phone. Through the portrayal of a person’s process of doubts and fears through writing, erasing, and changing messages, the story is driven forward. It is a reflection of how we live and see the world today through our phones. By showcasing the personal view in this story, it becomes much more powerful than filming the subject in live action. The film serves as an excellent example of how a movie can be made using only an easily accessible tool.
