Vision<\/h2>\n

TREFF\u2019s (Troms\u00f8 Educational Film Festival) vision is to promote the use of film as a pedagogical tool and to enhance the quality of educational films.<\/span> <\/span>Film as a medium cannot magically fix or increase learning, but when combined in a pedagogical context, it can be a useful tool to support students and viewers in their own learning process.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

We aim for TREFF to be an arena where teachers in higher education and film makers can meet, share experiences, and be inspired.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

TREFF is not only a film festival, but also a conference with a strong focus on pedagogy<\/span>. <\/span>We have k<\/span>e<\/span>y notes<\/span> that<\/span> will talk about the role of film in education<\/span>. <\/span>The films that will be screened are carefully selected to show the variation of <\/span>themes and methods. Every film will be presente<\/span>d with a focus on how the film can be used in teaching. We will see many innovative <\/span>and creative <\/span>ways to use film in teaching.\u00a0<\/span><\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

TREFF is for everyone who is interested in how film can be used to convey a message. It is also for everyone concerned with student learning and good pedagogical practices. We focus on higher education, but we think that this festival\/conference is interesting for people working in other fields as well.\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

TREFF is also for anyone working with films with a goal for learning.\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The TREFF film festival is organized by Result, The Resource Center for Teaching, Learning, and Technology at UiT The Arctic University of Norway. The center is dedicated to supporting the university\u2019s professional communities in their teaching practice, including research, technology and learning. The production of films for educational purposes is a central part of the center\u2019s work.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The story<\/h2>\n

We <\/span>sought<\/span> a f<\/span>estival for educational films, hoping to find <\/span>new ideas<\/span>, <\/span>expertise<\/span> and contacts. However, we could not find such a festival in Norway, and only a handful existed in the world. This prompted us to consider creating our own festival and we are delighted to invite you to our first film festival at <\/span>UiT<\/span> <\/span>The<\/span> Arctic University of Norway<\/span><\/span>.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span>\u202f<\/span><\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n
