Its purpose is to serve as a valuable tool for planning and implementing instructional activities. The material covers a wide range of difficulty levels, making it relevant for both beginners, as well as students in secondary schools, folk high schools, and higher music education institutions. The website was established in 2013 under the name Musikkeksempler.no. In 2017, it transformed into Musicificium and expanded in 2018 to include a collection of teaching materials in addition to its original database of music examples. Det har st\u00e5tt sentralt \u00e5 lete frem musikkeksempler som gj\u00f8r det enkelere \u00e5 undervise etter f\u00f8lgende pedagogiske prinsipper:<\/p>\n<p><em>\u00c5 ta utgangspunkt i noe kjent for \u00e5 l\u00e6re noe ukjent<\/em>. I geh\u00f8rundervisning kan det bety \u00e5 ta utgangspunkt i musikk studentene kjenner godt, som barnesanger og folkeviser, n\u00e5r nye temaer skal introduseres. Musicificium inneholder derfor en andel kjent og kj\u00e6r musikk fra det norske folkesangrepertoaret.<\/p>\n<p><em>Kontekstualisering<\/em> av geh\u00f8rfagets l\u00e6restoff er viktig for \u00e5 hjelpe studenter og elever med \u00e5 se overf\u00f8ringsverdien mellom det de l\u00e6rer i geh\u00f8rtimene til arbeid med eget repertoar. Kontekstualisering kan blant annet skje ved \u00e5 la studentene m\u00f8te l\u00e6restoffet i musikk som ligner den musikken de beskjeftiger seg med i sitt \u00f8vrige musikalske virke. En slik form for kontekstualisering kan dessuten \u00f8ke f\u00f8lelsen av undervisningens relevans og nytte. For \u00e5 m\u00f8te dette prinsippet, er det et m\u00e5l \u00e5 ha s\u00e5 stor sjanger-, epoke- og instrumenteringsbredde som mulig i Musicificiums eksempelmateriale.<\/p>\n<p>I valg av musikkeksempler er det avgj\u00f8rende at l\u00e6restoffet kommer tydelig frem i lydbildet, og at det er enkelt \u00e5 oppfatte. Dette har konsekvenser b\u00e5de for valg av eksempelmateriale og for valg av innspilling: At l\u00e6restoffet h\u00f8res tydelig i lydbildet er mer avgj\u00f8rende enn kunstneriske kvaliteter som f.eks originalitet i tolkningen. Tempo er ogs\u00e5 av betydning i valg av innspilling; innspillinger der tempoet er slik at strukturen er lett \u00e5 oppfatte, og der det er mulig \u00e5 f.eks synge med p\u00e5 rytmen\/temaet\/skalaen\/bassgangen, er foretrukket. I noen tilfeller brukes transkribsjoner av verk istedenfor innspillinger med originalbesetningen. Dette skyldes \u00f8nsket om at l\u00e6restoffet skal v\u00e6re lett \u00e5 oppfatte i lydbildet. Eksempelvis kan det i arbeid med en harmonisk struktur v\u00e6re enklere \u00e5 skille ut bassen n\u00e5r den spilles av et annet instrument enn det resten av akkorden gj\u00f8r.<\/p>\n<p><em>Musicificium is a didactic website. Our primary goal is to locate musical examples that facilitate teaching based on the following pedagogical principles:<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>Starting from the familiar to learn the unfamiliar. In ear training, this implies using music that students are already familiar with, such as children&#8217;s songs and folk tunes, to introduce new topics. Therefore, Musicificium includes a selection of beloved and well-known music from the Norwegian folk song repertoire.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>Contextualizing the topics of aural training teaching is important in regards to helping the students use what they learned in aural training classes when working with music in other contexts. Contextualizing can be done by offering music examples containing music similiar to the repertoar that the students work with outside the aural training classroom. Such kind of contextualizing can also strenghten the students&#8217; motivation for working with aural training tasks, and it helps them understand the relevance of the subject. To support this principle, Musicificium aims to offer music examples in a variety of genres, epochs and instrumentations.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>It has been cruical to choose examples where the topic to be learned is easy to hear in the soundscape. This also goes for the selection of recordings: The clearness of the recording&#8217;s sound has been more important than other artistic qualities such as orginality in the interpretation etc. The tempo of a piece in different recordings has also been important when selecting a recording. Too fast or too slow tempi can make the example non-suitable for pedagogical purposes. <\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>For some pieces, a recording using another instrumentation than the original has been used. This is to support the pedagogical suitability of the piece. In example, a bass line can be difficult to distinguish in a piece played by solo piano. For \u00e5 kunne ta i bruk innspilt lyd p\u00e5 nettstedet p\u00e5 en lovlig, men samtidig \u00f8konomisk gjennomf\u00f8rbar m\u00e5te, brukes YouTube-lenker som lydavspillingsmedium. Det understrekes at det ikke er tillatt \u00e5 str\u00f8mme direkte fra YouTube i undervisning. Bruk eksempelbanken som inspirasjonskilde og hjelp i undervisningsplanleggingen, men kj\u00f8p musikken f\u00f8r du skal bruke den i undervisning!<\/p>\n<p>Notemateriale er beskyttet av opphavsrettslovgivingen i inntil 70 \u00e5r etter komponistens d\u00f8d, i noen tilfeller lengre. Musicificium inneholder <em>kun<\/em> notemateriale og lenker til notemateriale til musikk som ikke er beskyttet av opphavsrett. Dette inneb\u00e6rer at de fleste eksemplene fra popul\u00e6rmusikk ikke har vedlagt notemateriale. I kategorier som <em>vekslende taktarter<\/em>\u00a0med <em>ulike grunnslag<\/em> er det vanskelig \u00e5 bruke eksempelmaterialet uten vedlagt notemateriale. Her brukes derfor utelukkende eksempler der notematerialet er frigitt, og velegnet eksempel- og oppgavemateriale av nyere komponister er utelatt.<\/p>\n<p>Digital technology provides easy access to a large amount of recorded audio and sheet music material, making it more important than ever to be familiar with and adhere to copyright laws. In order to legally and economically use recorded audio on the website, YouTube links are used as the audio playback medium. It is important to note that streaming directly from YouTube is not permitted in education. Use the example bank as a source of inspiration and help in lesson planning, but purchase the music before using it in teaching!<\/p>\n<p>Sheet music is protected by copyright laws for up to 70 years after the composer&#8217;s death, and sometimes longer. Musicificium contains only sheet music and links to sheet music for music that is not protected by copyright. This means that most examples from popular music do not come with attached sheet music. In categories such as changing time signatures with different fundament patterns, it is difficult to use the example material without attached sheet music.
