Do you teach at UiT? Do you want to develop further as a teacher?

This course is designed for PhD fellows and staff members who have some level of teaching (student-facing or staff training). It will be an opportunity to develop and/or enhance your teaching skills, and to meet people in a similar situation to you. Please note that it is not a substitute for UNIPED-100.

registration for spring semester 2025 opens 18th november. Deadline for registration is 21st february.

The course will provide you with:

knowledge of and experience with research-based principles for good teaching and learning

tools for evaluating and further developing own teaching

gained knowledge of key concepts and theories related to teaching and learning

You must be employed at UiT Norway’s Arctic University and have some level of teaching responsibility.

You must be available on the three dates of the synchronous sessions.

This course runs in both Norwegian and English.

What can you expect as a participant?

3 sessions

There will be 3 live sessions that you will have to attend in order to get your certificate.

You will be expected to actively participate in the live sessions of the course.

Scope of the course

The expected minimum time spent on the course is 30 hours. Including preparing for the sessions.

Introduction

26th February 2025

Online

13:00-15:00

Brief introduction to the instructors, the course and the assignments. You will have an opportunity to ask question.

Microteaching

19th March 2025

Online and in-person

8:30-11:30 or 12:30-15:30

An opportunity to teach in a small group with other participants. You will get tips and feedback from the instructors and peers.

Presentation of teaching plan

21st May 2025

Online and in-person

8:30-11:30 or 12:30-15:30

Plan a lesson, lecture, seminar or course and present it to other course participants. You will get tips and feedback.
